Grilling is our passion. (OK, eating really is...) Not only are we passionate about grilling, we are passionate about sharing our knowledge of how awesome food can taste when cooked on cedar planks. We've been plankers for years and we had a surplus of amazing cedar. So why not? We decided that we had to start this biz and help convert more Plankers. Waste nothing. All of the cedar planks sold by Savory Planks are supplied from Whiskeyjack Paddles, makers of handcrafted cedar canoe paddles. During the creation of these beautiful paddles a large amount of unusable shorter-length cedar ends up going to waste. We absolutely hated the idea of using expensive, beautiful cedar as kindling (although it does make a nice smelling fire...) So we put our thinking caps on and Savory Planks was born. We sleep good at night knowing that all of this amazing wood is now being put to good use!
